Betway Premiership outfit Durban City have confirmed the departure of Dstv Diski Challenge [DDC] head coach Daine Klate.
The former Orlando Pirates star was roped in by Gavin Hunt, who was sacked a fortnight ago over an alleged broken relationship with the players, much to the frustration of the club chairman.
As a result, Klate was also relieved of his duties as the reserve league coach and leaves the team in 13th place with 13 points after 13 games in the DDC.
“Durban City FC can confirm the departure of DSTV Diski Challenge (DDC) head coach, Daine Klate,” read the club statement from the KZN side.
"The Club and Coach Klate have mutually agreed to part ways, effective immediately. Klate played a key role in establishing our DDC squad during the club's transition into South Africa's topflight. His dedication and expertise were vital in building a competitive foundation for our youth team.
Club Chairman, Mr. Farook Kadodia, expressed his gratitude: "On behalf of everyone at Durban City FC, I sincerely thank Daine for his exemplary professionalism and commitment during this foundational period. We wish him every success in the next chapter of his career.
The Citizens are expected to appoint a new reserve team coach ahead of the resumption of the competition next year.
