Official: Espanyol boss Manolo González signs contract extension | OneFootball

La Liga outfit Espanyol have on Tuesday announced a contract extension for head coach Manolo González.

This, of course, comes fresh off González guiding the Catalans to survival in Spain’s top-flight.

Espanyol spent the bulk of the 2024/25 campaign battling against relegation to La Liga 2, at times looking destined for the drop.

When all was said and done, however, a haul of 42 points proved enough to guide the Periquitos to a solid 14th-placed finish.

Boss González proved pivotal to as much, praised for his work on the sideline at the RCDE Stadium.

And as alluded to above, this week, such efforts have proven enough to earn for the Spanish tactician a new deal with Espanyol.

As per a statement across the club’s website and social media platforms:

‘RCD Espanyol and Manolo González have reached an agreement to extend the coach’s contract until June 30, 2027. The club trusts Manolo González, who joined RCD Espanyol in the summer of 2023 to manage the reserve team, to continue at the helm of the first team.’
