After two seasons at the club, Ibrahim Sissoko (29) has officially left AS Saint-Étienne to join Bundesliga 2 side VfL Bochum, bringing an end to a spell that saw him play a key role in Les Verts’ return to Ligue 1.

Signed from Sochaux in the summer of 2023, the Ivorian striker quickly became a pivotal figure for Les Verts in their Ligue 2 campaign which saw them return to Ligue 1. Sissoko scored 13 goals during his debut season, including a vital strike against Metz in the first leg of the Ligue 1 promotion/relegation play-off to help the club seal its return to the top flight. This season, he had only managed three goals and one assist as he played second fiddle to the return of Irvin Cardona and the rise of Lucas Stassin. Sissoko now joins Bochum as they seek to bounce back from relegation from the Bundesliga. Speaking on the German club’s website, the forward said: “I’m very happy to be here in Bochum and I can’t wait to get out on the pitch with my teammates. I’ve heard a lot about the atmosphere in German stadiums and I’m looking forward to experiencing it up close.”GFFN | George Boxall
