Lyon have completed the signing of Ruben Kluivert (24) from Portuguese side Casa Pia. The Dutch centre-back has signed a five-year contract running until June 2030. According to the Ligue 1 side, Lyon and Casa Pia reached an agreement over a €3,78m transfer fee with a further 650k in performance-related bonuses as well as a 15% sell-on clause. The centre-back, the son of Dutch legend Patrick Kluivert and brother of Justin, will become the third member of the Kluivert family to feature in French football. Patrick played for Lille and Justin learnt his trade at OGC Nice.

This deal made Kluivert OL’s second summer signing, after the arrival of Afonso Moreira, a young winger from Sporting CP.The 24-year-old is the fourth Dutch player to sign for Lyon after Michel Valke, Kenny Tete and Memphis Depay, who was part of Kluivert’s announcement. Ruben Kluivert has been called up for Lyon’s preseason game against Hamburg this Saturday.
