Lazio have announced the departure of Christos Mandas, who joins Bournemouth on loan, while Edoardo Motta has arrived to replace him.

Lazio Acquire Edoardo Motta on Permanent Transfer

The two operations have been in the air for days, but the official announcements have arrived on Tuesday morning. The official Lazio website initially released a statement confirming the permanent signing of Motta, a 21-year-old goalkeeper, who managed to impress this season with Reggiana in Serie B.

SS Lazio announces that it has definitively acquired the rights to the contract of Edoardo Motta, who previously played for Associazione Calcio Reggiana 1919. The 21-year-old goalkeeper has put pen to paper on a long-term contract with SS Lazio after agreeing personal terms and successfully passing a medical.

How Much Have Lazio Paid for Motta?

While the official note didn’t disclose the figures behind the transfer, sources in the Italian media had expected the young Italian to cost the Aquile a transfer fee of €1.2 million, with his original club, Juventus, collecting a 50% sell-on fee.

Christos Mandas Joins Bournemouth on Initial Loan Move

Shortly following the first announcement, Lazio confirmed that Mandas signed for Bournemouth on loan with an option to buy.

SS Lazio can confirm that Christos Mandas has completed a loan with an option to buy to AFC Bournemouth, subject to international clearance. Mandas departs Olimpico having made 33 appearances: the goalkeeper arrived at the club from OFĪ Crete in the summer of 2023. Everybody at the club would like to thank Christos for his contributions and wish him all the best for the future. Why Lazio Sold Mandas

Mandas became Lazio’s first-choice goalkeeper during the second half of the previous campaign when Ivan Provedel was enduring a dip in form. However, the experienced Italian shot-stopper retained his starting berth following Maurizio Sarri’s return last summer. On the other hand, the Greek custodian only made a single appearance this term, coming in the Coppa Italia win over AC Milan.

Mandas to Bournemouth: Reported Figures & Terms

Bournemouth will reportedly pay around €3 million in loan fees, while the purchase option is circa €18 million. Sources had also revealed that the Cherries will have the obligation to buy the goalkeeper if they qualify for Europe, and if he makes a certain number of appearances.
