It’s just been officially announced by PSG that they have sold winger Kang-in Lee to Atletico Madrid.
The 25 year old moves to the Spanish capital for a fee of around €40m, according to most reports.
He won 11 trophies, including two Champions Leagues, in just three years in Paris having joined from Mallorca in 2023. PSG will now be looking to replace Lee – or just hoping that the likes of youngster Ibrahim Mbaye are ready to step up and fill the gap.
In his 80 appearances, Lee racked up 12 goals and 14 assists. But his game was about more than just goal contributions. His work rate and tactical discipline made him a really useful tool for Luis Enrique, who we’re sure would rather have kept the South Korea star had he not wanted a fresh start and a starting role somewhere.
We’re sure will thrive at Atletico, where Diego Simeone will learn to appreciate his qualities as much as Luis Enrique, and is likely to use him as a replacement for the departing club legend Antoine Griezmann.
PSG’s top target for the window has appeared to be Yan Diomande – but they refused to pay RB Leipzig’s massive demands and now look likely to miss out on the winger.
Reports from L’Equipe say that Luis Enrique has already agreed a contract extension, which has yet to be fully announced.
