Official: Real Madrid announce injury blow | OneFootball

La Liga giants Real Madrid have this week announced an injury setback in the club’s first-team ranks. The Blancos star primed for an incoming spell on the sidelines? Raúl Asencio.

Stopper Asencio is of course one of a number of Real Madrid players whose futures are considered as being somewhat up in the air at the moment.

Following the arrival of Ibrahima Konaté in Spain’s capital this summer, the 23-year-old has found himself knocked down the pecking order, with his place in the plans of new boss José Mourinho currently unclear.

Asencio nevertheless reported for pre-season training as normal earlier this month, eager to make a positive first impression.

But as alluded to above, on Thursday, these plans on the part of the young defender have been dealt a blow. As per a statement released across Real Madrid’s website and social media platforms:

‘After the tests carried out today on our player Raúl Asencio by the Real Madrid Medical Services, he has been diagnosed with a muscle injury in the rectus femoris of his right leg. Awaiting progress.’
