Real Madrid head coach Xabi Alonso has this week secured for himself a prestigious individual prize.

This comes in the form of the La Liga Manager of the Month award for August.

Tactician Alonso is for his part fresh off what has been a hugely successful opening to his stint on the bench in Spain’s capital.

After the first three fixtures of the new campaign, Real Madrid are sitting pretty atop the La Liga table, two points clear of champions and arch rivals Barcelona.

This comes owing to a flawless record of nine points from an available nine, featuring six goals scored, and just one conceded.

And as alluded to above, this week, Xabi Alonso’s efforts en route to as much have been aptly recognised by those overseeing Spanish football.
