Curtains fell on the 2025/26 La Liga season this past weekend, with Real Madrid finishing in the second place once again behind champions FC Barcelona.
It was another disappointing campaign for Los Blancos with no major trophy coming their way, which is set to spark some major changes at the club.
Meanwhile, as they take stock of the current season, Real Madrid have had some players who have stood out more than the rest. Two of them – Kylian Mbappe and Arda Guler – are now in contention to win La Liga end-of-season awards.
Indeed, Mbappe has been nominated for the La Liga Player of the Season honour.
The 27-year-old forward has once again finished as the top scorer in the league with 25 strikes to his name. With another Pichichi Trophy already in the bag, the Frenchman is also targeting the La Liga top prize.
However, Mbappe will battle it out against Barcelona’s Lamine Yamal, Nicolas Pepe of Villarreal, Pablo Fornals of Real Betis, and Mallorca’s Vedat Muriqi.
Meanwhile, Guler is in the running for the La Liga U23 Player of the Season award. The Turkish international enjoyed a fine season playing as a midfielder, finishing with four goals and nine assists from 33 league games.
The 21-year-old Turkish international will have to fight it out against Fermin Lopez of Barcelona, Alberto Moleiro of Villarreal, Carlos Espi of Levante, and former Real Madrid winger Victor Munoz, currently of Osasuna.
On top of that, Guler is also in contention for a second prize as he has been nominated for the La Liga Goal of the Season honour.
The youngster’s stunning long-range strike from his own half against Elche, catching the goalkeeper off his line late in the game has been nominated for the honour. The goal already won La Liga’s Goal of the Month for March.
