The Merengues brought in several players in January and have already agreed deals for some more youth prospects to join the club before next season.

Fran Santamaria set to join Real Madrid

One such player happens to be teenage striker Fran Santamaria as Real Madrid have triggered his release clause to sign him from CD Castellon, the lower league outfit have announced.

Santamaria, an 18-year-old forward who has come through the club’s academy, will join Los Blancos next season after a standout campaign.

At just 18, Santamaria has enjoyed an outstanding season in front of goal. He scored 15 goals across 32 appearances for both the Juvenil A side and Castellon B.

In the Division de Honor Juvenil, he netted 13 times in 17 matches, finishing as the group’s top scorer before his promotion to the reserve team.

Despite his age, Santamaria stepped up to Castellon B in the RFEF Segunda Division, where he added two goals in 15 appearances. His quick adaptation to a higher level highlighted both his development and his potential.

Real Madrid have decided to invest in one of the most promising players to come out of Castellon’s academy and have paid his release clause in full. This makes the deal the most expensive academy sale in the club’s history.

Castellon publicly thanked Santamaría for his commitment, dedication and hard work over the years, wishing him the very best as he begins this new chapter in his professional career.
