Real Madrid star Thibaut Courtois has on Tuesday been sent back to base in Spain’s capital by the Belgian national team.

This comes after the goalkeeper underwent a round of medical tests under the supervision of the Red Devils’ staff.

As per an ensuing statement across the country’s social media platforms:

‘Thibaut Courtois underwent the medical examination this afternoon by the RBFA medical staff. He will not be available for the upcoming international matches and will return to his club for further treatment.’

Courtois for his part suffered his latest injury setback this past weekend.

En route to Real Madrid stuttering to a 0-0 draw with Rayo Vallecano, the former Chelsea man picked up what was subsequently described by Real Madrid as ‘an injury to the long abductor muscle in his right leg’.

Despite Los Blancos’ findings, the Belgian camp were keen to carry out scans of their own, which since confirmed the same news.

The hope is that Courtois will be back available for selection in time for Real Madrid’s La Liga meeting with Elche on November 23rd.
