Official: Real Madrid star Thibaut Courtois nominated for the 2025 Yachine Trophy | OneFootball

After Dean Huijsen was confirmed to be nominated for the 2025 Kopa Trophy, Real Madrid now have another player in contention for an award at the Ballon d’Or ceremony.

Indeed, star goalkeeper Thibaut Courtois has been nominated for the 2025 Yachine Trophy, given to best-performing goalkeeper in the season.

The honour, named in honour of legendary shot-stopper Lev Yashin, has been awarded since 2019 as part of the Ballon d’Or ceremony, with football journalists voting for the winner.

Courtois, who had previously won the Yachine Trophy back in 2022, enjoyed another excellent season for Real Madrid in 2024/25.

The 33-year-old was a key presence between the sticks once again as Real Madrid won the UEFA Super Cup and the FIFA Intercontinental Cup, while finishing second in La Liga and strung together a semi-final run at the FIFA Club World Cup.

The Real Madrid veteran ended the campaign with 53 appearances in all competitions in which he kept 17 clean sheets.

Courtois will go up against other top goalkeepers like Alisson Becker, Lucas Chevalier, Yassine Bounou, Gianluigi Donnarumma, David Raya, Matz Sels, Jan Oblak, Yann Sommer, and back-to-back winner of the Yachine Trophy, Emiliano Martinez.
