Official: Sevilla & Atlético Madrid announce transfer agreement | OneFootball

Sevilla have on Tuesday announced a transfer agreement with La Liga rivals Atlético Madrid, over the permanent signing of Julio Díaz.

Defender Díaz for his part enjoyed something of a breakout year on the books of the aforementioned Atlético in 2025/26. After emerging onto the first-team picture in Spain’s capital, the 21-year-old went on to rack up four La Liga starts.

Across these outings, Díaz largely impressed onlookers, hailed for his efforts on both sides of the ball.

After Diego Simeone’s options at left-back were reinforced courtesy of the arrival of Alejandro Grimaldo this summer, a number of Spanish clubs, in turn, made known their interest in landing Díaz.

And as alluded to above, on Tuesday, one such suitor have beaten out the competition to strike a deal.

As per a statement across the website and social media platforms of Sevilla:

‘Sevilla FC and Atlético de Madrid have reached an agreement for the transfer of left-back Julio Díaz del Romo to the Seville club until June 30, 2031.’
