Stéphane Gilli has been appointed as the new manager of SCO Angers. It comes following the exit of Alexandre Dujeux earlier this month.

Dujeux’s exit – or at least the manner of it – came as a surprise. Having led the club back to Ligue 1 and kept them there for two consecutive seasons, he was highly coveted. He was linked with a move to OGC Nice and FC Lorient. However, it was the club who announced Dujeux’s exit, without his next move being confirmed. His arrival at Lorient was, however, confirmed on Tuesday, just hours before Gilli’s appointment later the same evening.

Gilli led Paris FC to Ligue 1 in the 2024/25 season. He departed back in February with the club mired in a relegation battle. He was replaced by Antoine Kombouaré, who led them to safety. Like Dujeux’s deal with Les Merlus, which runs until 2028, Gilli has also signed a two-year deal at Angers, where his objective will be to once again secure safety in France’s top flight.
