La Liga outfit Valencia have this week announced a fresh addition to the club’s first-team ranks. This comes amid confirmation of Ryunosuke Sato having penned contract terms at Mestalla.
Sato, for his part, is a versatile 19-year-old attacker, who has spent the early years of his fledgling career plying his club trade in his home country of Japan.
This past season, the starlet took to the pitch on 19 occasions in the colours of FC Tokyo, notching six goals and an assist along the way.
Such exploits, coupled with Sato’s ability to fill a number of attacking roles, culminated in mounting transfer interest from across Europe heading into the summer.
And as alluded to above, on Tuesday, one such suitor have officially beaten out the competition to the winger’s signature.
As per a statement across the social media platforms of Valencia:
‘Valencia CF has reached an agreement with FC Tokyo for the transfer of Ryunosuke Sato.
‘The 19-year-old footballer (Nishitokyo, 10/16/2006) signs a contract with a commitment for the next 5 seasons, until 2031, and will become the first Japanese player to wear the jersey of our first men’s team.’
