OH Leuven have announced the signing of Emmanuel Addai from Qarabag, with the winger signing a deal until 2028. The 24-year-old winger leaves the club from Azerbaijan after two seasons to join the Belgian Pro League club. OH Leuven have not said whether or not a transfer fee was involved in bringing the winger in from Qarabag.
Addai began his career in Europe with French lower division side Bobigny Bagnolet Gagny, playing 21 games and scoring six goals. In the summer of 2022 he moved to Spain and joined Alcorcon. He was part of the side that won promotion to La Liga 2 in 2023, playing 19 games and scoring three goals. He had a decent season in the second tier of Spanish football, scoring three goals and providing three assists.
In the summer of 2024, Addai moved to Qarabag. He played 39 games in his first season for the club, scoring four goals and playing in the Europa League. Last season he doubled his goal tally and played 49 games, including 15 in the Champions League. He scored one of the sides goals as they beat FC Copenhagen in the competition.
OH Leuven have struggled for creativity and goals for some time now, so there will be hope amongst the fans that Addai can finally provide a bit of firepower for the side, or even create chances for others.
