Lyon academy left-footer Adil Hamdani, 17, is beginning to earn a place in Paulo Fonseca’s squad after an eye-catching pre-season.

According to Le Progres, Lyon fans first discovered him on 23 November with a surprise run-out at AJ Auxerre, a 0-0 draw.

This pre-season he has scored two goals, against Mâcon then Saint-Gall, and added one assist, his finishing marked by clinical precision.

Those contributions have nudged him ahead of some of his young competitors and suggest a strong feel for the game.

Hamdani began at CO Vincennes before joining Lyon in 2022.
