OL overtake ASSE with 1,070th top-flight win for the first time | OneFootball

Lyon have moved ahead of Saint-Étienne in all-time French top-flight wins after beating Auxerre 3-2 at Groupama Stadium. It is the first time OL have led their historic rivals in this metric.

The result was OL's 1,070th victory, achieved across 67 Ligue 1 seasons and 2,465 matches. ASSE have 1,069 wins from 2,566 matches over 70 seasons. Le Progres points out that some statistical sites list ASSE on 1,070.

One such tally includes a 1-0 over Toulouse in 2000-01, later awarded on forfeit to TFC by the Conseil d’État and recorded 0-0 after the fake passports case.

OL, founded in 1950, now surpass the club born in 1933. Last season they traded home wins, OL 1-0 on 10 November 2024, ASSE 2-1 on 20 April 2025.

OL sit fourth on the D1/L1 all-time list behind Marseille on 1,222, Monaco 1,114 and Bordeaux 1,075. They will overtake Bordeaux next season, with a maximum of 1,073 possible this campaign.
