Michael Olise starred as Bayern Munich crushed Atalanta 6-1 in the first leg of their Champions League last-16 tie in Bergamo.
Olise set the tone early, helping Bayern take a commanding lead by the 25th minute. A clever corner found Serge Gnabry, who squared for Josip Stanisic to finish for the opener. Ten minutes later, Olise curled home his first, before setting Gnabry through to chip over Atalanta keeper Marco Carnesecchi.
The Frenchman added a second midway through the second half, while Nicolas Jackson and Jamal Musiala also scored, bringing the score to six by the 67th minute. Mario Pasalic netted a late consolation.
Bayern dominated throughout, forcing multiple saves from Carnesecchi and exploiting defensive lapses. Musiala wrapped up the rout with a close-range finish from Jackson’s cross. Dayot Upamecano hit the post, and Alphonso Davies’ injury was the only blemish.
Bayern now head to the Allianz Arena in a commanding position, while Atalanta face an uphill battle to overturn the deficit.
