Christian Oliva, 29, was unveiled by Santos on Thursday and called the switch the biggest challenge of his career. According to Globo.com, his presentation came almost a week after the club announced his arrival.

The former Nacional, Valencia and Cagliari player views the chance at Vila Belmiro as fresh motivation. He spoke of the club's lineage that includes Pelé, Neymar and many others, and pledged to give his all.

Oliva has signed a three-year contract. He says he is ready to make his debut on 10 against Mirassol at the Maião in the fifth round of the Brasileirão, having completed pre-season and played three matches in Uruguay.

He has already spoken with head coach Juan Pablo Vojvoda about his role, describing himself as a ball-winning midfielder who likes a clean build-up and focuses on regaining possession.

Oliva and the squad trained on Thursday as preparations continue for the return to the Brasileirão. Santos last played on 22, a 2-1 defeat to Novorizontino in the Campeonato Paulista quarter-finals.
