Oliver Glasner names first Nottingham Forest XI for Notts County friendly | OneFootball

Oliver Glasner has named his first Nottingham Forest XI for this afternoon’s three o'clock friendly at Notts County, his debut as head coach.

According to Nottingham Post, the Austrian began work earlier this week when the squad reported for pre-season. He has five weeks until Leeds United visit the City Ground on August 22.

Jair Cunha, Nikola Milenkovic and Morato start ahead of goalkeeper Matz Sels, with Ola Aina and Neco Williams at wing-back. Ryan Yates and Morgan Gibbs-White are the likely midfield pairing, James McAtee and Omari Hutchinson support striker Igor Jesus.

Glasner is likely to make widespread changes after the break. Substitutes include John Victor, Nicolas Dominguez, Taiwo Awoniyi, Arnaud Kalimuendo, Eric da Silva Moreira, Luca Netz, Omar Richards, Dilane Bakwa, Tyler Bindon and Zach Abbott.

Williams and Bindon featured for their countries earlier this summer and have accepted Glasner’s request for early returns from international duty. Chris Wood, Dan Ndoye and Ibrahim Sangare are not in the squad after recent World Cup action.

Forest head to Portugal early next week for a 12-day camp, facing Blackburn Rovers, Vitoria and Sporting Lisbon in friendlies. They contest the Friuli Venezia Giulia tournament with Udinese Calcio and Barcelona, before Bayer Leverkusen and Stade Brestois complete pre-season.

The programme aims to leave them primed to challenge for a return to European football in 2026/27. Glasner is the club’s fifth head coach in a year, following Nuno Espirito Santo, Ange Postecoglou, Sean Dyche and Vitor Pereira, who was dismissed earlier in the summer.
