Manchester United have won only once in five games this season, continuing their abysmal form from last season.

Ruben Amorim boasts of the lowest win rate of any manager since World War II, with the club breaking unwanted records galore under his stewardship.

Despite the brickbats from pundits and ex-players, the head coach remains adamant that he will not tweak his system, and for now, INEOS are backing him to come good eventually.

If Chelsea emerge triumphant at Old Trafford on Saturday, things could turn ugly. And as per Football Insider, the Red Devils are keeping tabs on Oliver Glasner.

Glasner has impressed at Palace

The Crystal Palace manager has done a fantastic job since his arrival at Selhurst Park, winning the FA Cup last season, while claiming the Community Shield this season, despite losing a lot of their top players.

The Eagles are ninth in the standings this season, but the Austrian is currently in his final year of his contract with Palace and so far, no progress has been made regarding an extension.

“I think obviously if Man United do decide to part ways with Ruben Amorim, they’re going to look for the best man for the job. Whether it’s somebody who’s already in the Premier League or somebody managing elsewhere, they will look at the market and see who is available.

“The Manchester United job will still be attractive, whatever their current situation, because they’re still a huge club with a huge fan base.

“And obviously there has been financial backing in the transfer market as well for managers, which is always a tempting prospect for a manager.

Intriguing contract situation

“If they did decide to go for somebody in the Premier League, there are a few options for them who would be able to come in and hit the ground running.

“Glasner’s an interesting one as he is into the final year of his contract at Crystal Palace and still seems there’s no progress on talks there and what his situation is going to become next summer.”

Oliver Glasner plays an attractive style of football while also being proven in the English top-flight. Not to mention his ability to get the best out of his squad despite a high player turnover rate at Selhurst Park.

Whether INEOS will turn to him remains to be seen. Andoni Iraola of Bournemouth also is on the club’s list of managerial targets. But for now, all hopes remain on Amorim, and hopefully, he can turn things around soon.
