Olympiacos’ search for Francisco Ortega’s successor has moved toward a player with established production at a Champions League-level club. Portuguese journalist Sebastião Sousa-Pinto reported that Olympiacos are interested in Porto left-back Francisco Moura. SPORT24 then added that Director of Football Strategy António Miguel Cardoso has already begun discussions with Porto to determine the conditions under which a transfer could be completed.

The talks remain exploratory. There is no reported agreement, no confirmed bid and no indication that Moura has chosen Olympiacos over other possibilities. The significance lies in the profile being pursued.

They are examining whether they can acquire a left-back capable of immediately claiming the starting role.

Francisco Ortega’s strengths came through repeated forward running, aggressive overlapping and familiarity with José Luis Mendilibar’s pressing system.

Moura offers some of those same attacking qualities, but with a more polished final-third record.

His Porto numbers—seven goals and 14 assists across 74 appearances—suggest a full-back comfortable contributing directly to chance creation. Last season alone, he produced three goals and two assists in 32 matches.

That would be valuable for an Olympiacos side that struggled to create high-quality chances against NEC.
