Marseille’s biggest ultra group has urged supporters to organise and mobilise to block the far right in Sunday’s municipal run-off.
According to GetFootballNewsFrance.com, the South Winners issued a communiqué after the far right posted a historic first-round result, with Franck Allisio on 35.02% narrowly trailing incumbent mayor Benoît Payan on 36.70%. Centre-right candidate Martine Vassal was third on 12.41% and will face them in the second round.
The group warned the far right was on the threshold of power in France’s second city, and argued that a party built on division, racism and xenophobia cannot be allowed to prevail. The communiqué ended with a stark appeal for Marseille to wake up.
It called for tolerance and living together to triumph on Sunday 22 March 2026, urged supporters to follow the example of their elders by standing up for what is right, and framed blocking the party as a civic duty.
The elections fall on the same day OM host LOSC Lille at the Stade Vélodrome, with the game moved to 17:15 CET because of potential security concerns following what will be a decisive election night.
