On loan at Atlético-GO, Corinthians defender makes first Série B squad list

Defender Renato, who belongs to Corinthians and is on loan to Atlético Goianiense, has finally appeared among the players listed by the red-and-black club for the first time since his arrival in March 2025. The defender was on the bench in the match against Operário, which ended 0-0 in the penultimate round of Série B, but did not get on the field under coach Rafael Lacerda.

Renato has been loaned to Atlético since April, but has not managed to establish himself in the squad over these seven months. So far, the player has not been given any opportunities to play. The situation became even more complicated in the current transfer window: the club from Goiás chose to bring back Adriano Martins and Heron, who were also out on loan, as well as strengthen the defense with the signings of Castro, from The Strongest (Bolivia), and Tito, who was at Maringá.

Corinthians had the chance to request the defender’s return in the last window, but chose to keep him in Goiânia. His loan contract runs until the end of March 2026.

A product of Corinthians’ own youth system, Renato won the Copinha in 2024 and was promoted to the professional team at the end of that year by coach Ramón Díaz. However, he was unable to find space in the main squad and ended up falling behind even the young Guilherme Gama, then just 16 years old, during the Paulista Championship.

Given this, the Corinthians board decided to loan him out in hopes of repeating the success of defender João Pedro Tchoca, who had a good spell at Ceará in 2024 and returned to the club the following year to join the squad. However, without getting minutes on the pitch at Atlético Goianiense, Renato is expected to return to Parque São Jorge without showing significant progress. He has a contract with Corinthians until July 31, 2027.
