In a recent report, journalist Alan Nixon stated that on-loan Sunderland full-back Lutsharel Geertruida is on the radar of Everton. It is understood that the Toffees are showing interest in signing the Dutch talent, who is currently playing for the Black Cats while on loan from Red Bull Leipzig.
Geertruida has struggled to find consistency at times with his performances while on loan at the Wearside club this season. However, he has managed to put in a run of solid displays for the Black Cats after making 29 appearances for them in this campaign across various competitions.
The 25-year-old has proven himself to be a solid option at right-back for Regis Le Bris’ side this season. Hence, the Black Cats would have to step up their efforts if they want to make his loan move permanent this summer.
His current contract at his parent club, RB Leipzig, will run out in the summer of 2029, which could make it tough for Sunderland to sign him on the cheap later this year.

Geertruida is a solid tackler of the ball and can time his challenges well to earn the ball back for his team inside his half. He doesn’t mind putting his foot through the ball when the opposition are on the front foot.
Standing at 1.84m, the Dutch sensation can use his strong frame to dominate the opposition attackers in the air. He has begun to prove his worth as a decent contributor in the Premier League. Hence, it makes sense for the Black Cats to try and make his loan spell permanent this summer.
Geertruida is good enough to challenge for a regular starting role at the Stadium of Light next season. Thus, it makes sense for Sunderland to retain his services beyond the end of this campaign.
At 25, Geertruida has his peak years ahead of him, which makes him a worthy target for the Wearside club to consider in this summer transfer period. Hence, Le Bris would be wise to step up his efforts to acquire his services at the end of this season.
