FC Bayern’s summer transfer window is far from over. There could still be some movement on both the incoming and outgoing sides. Now, the record champions are being linked to an intriguing goalkeeper.
At first glance, this seems surprising, since Bayern will head into the new season with Manuel Neuer, Jonas Urbig, and Sven Ulreich—a goalkeeping squad consisting of three goalies.
And yet, FC Bayern is reportedly looking into Lukas Hornicek of SC Braga. This is according to a report by Mais Futebol in Portugal.
Just a few weeks ago, A Bola reported that Bayern was looking into Hornicek. According to the new report, he is said to be one of the players on the record champions’ shortlist.

The focus here is apparently primarily on the period following the upcoming season, as both Neuer and Ulreich will be retiring then. The clear plan is for Urbig to become the number one goalkeeper in Munich.
But on the one hand, a lot can happen over the course of a season, and on the other hand, the team will still need a strong backup who can maintain a high level of play and step in for the starting goalkeeper.
Hornicek won’t come cheap, as Braga points to the buyout clause in the goalkeeper’s contract—which stands at 30 million euros. That’s why it’s unclear for now to what extent the record champions are truly serious about this move.
FC Porto is also interested in signing Hornicek, but only if Diogo Costa, the Portuguese club’s starting goalkeeper, leaves the team. Hornicek himself is under contract with Braga until the summer of 2028, so a transfer must take place by 2027 at the latest if the club still wants to collect a substantial transfer fee. Perhaps that’s when the Bayern story will really heat up.
