One dead, eight seriously injured and 780 arrests after PSG Champions League win

One person died, eight were seriously injured and 780 were arrested nationwide after Paris Saint-Germain beat Arsenal to win the Champions League on penalties. According to Le Progres, the arrest total was 32% higher than the same night in 2025.
PSG prevailed after extra time ended 1-1, winning 4-3 in a penalty shootout, and celebrations in Paris soon turned ugly. A full Parc des Princes watched and celebrated as fireworks lit up the pitch.
About 22,000 police and gendarmes were deployed, including 8,000 in the capital, yet 219 were injured, eight seriously. In all, 57 officers were hurt, one seriously in Agen.
Shortly after one in the morning, a motocross rider hit one metre-high concrete blocks on the outer ring road exit at Porte Maillot. Witnesses said he went head-on into the barrier, the slip road was closed and clearly signposted. He died shortly after two, an inquiry has been opened.
Around four in the morning in the 16th arrondissement, four attackers with a knife were reported. Police found a 17-year-old with severe eye and mouth injuries, bleeding heavily. His condition is life-threatening, he is in a coma in a Paris hospital, the suspects fled.
Damage was also reported in Grenoble, Dijon and Besançon. Near Parc des Princes, about 150 people tried to force an entrance before police pushed them back. The Eiffel Tower sparkled, and nearly 100,000 are expected at the Champ-de-Mars on Sunday before visits to the Elysée and Parc des Princes in the evening.
