The MLS market is on fire with the latest reports. Many teams are crafting signings after the World Cup, and, for now, the names are pretty interesting.

We started the month of June with the news that FC Cincinnati, Portland Timbers, and the Chicago Fire are monitoring Juan Fernado Quintero’s situation. Now, the next club that could make a major move is Charlotte FC.

The Crown is looking for a European star to fill the spot left after the departure of Wilfried Zaha. According to Topbin90, Charlotte is in advanced talks with a former Premier League winger.

Charlotte FC is in advanced talks to sign former Newcastle star Allan Saint-Maximin

According to the aforementioned outlet, the MLS club is in advanced talks to sign former Newcastle winger, now playing in Ligue 1 for RC Lens. To get something straight, there is no formal offer between Charlotte and Lens for the French attacker.

Still, discussions have progressed significantly between all parties. However, the deal isn’t formal or finalized because some details are still under negotiation.

The interest of the Crown in Saint-Maximin dates back a long time, when the club knew that a long-term solution with Wilfried Zaha was impossible. So, they had the former Newcastle as an option to reinforce the attack.

In the current season, Saint-Maximin has played 29 games, scoring 7 goals and delivering 5 assists. Although his stats are not beautiful, the French player is known for his time at Newcastle, where he played 124 matches, scoring 13 goals and delivering 21 assists.

While no formal offer has been made, Charlotte FC is eager to secure the RC Lens winger following the World Cup, with his contract set to expire at the end of June.

If the deal goes through, Allan Saint-Maximin will occupy a Designated Player spot, using one of the club’s most important DP spots.
