As part of OneFootball's collaboration series with Shoot Music we're interviewing an artist every week about their love of football.
This week, we're joined by rapper Songer, who is a big fan of Chelsea.
When did you start supporting Chelsea and why?
I’ve always supported Chelsea so it was probably from when I was around two-years-old. My older brother was a big Chelsea fan and as a toddler I just followed suit.
What is your favourite memory of supporting Chelsea as a child?
My favourite memory is us winning the Champions League for the first time. I was completely obsessed with Chelsea at that time and I can remember watching the final against Bayern Munich with my dad so clearly. Pure happiness.
Can you sum up your feelings towards BlueCo and the chaotic ownership?
I think it’s a complete and utter disgrace and has been from the very start. We’re being run like a Silicon Valley startup, with zero regard for club identity, the fans or what it means to be Chelsea. It’s exhausting not knowing what we are anymore - no Chelsea fan wants to be guinea pigs for American billionaires.
Would winning the FA Cup equal a successful season for Chelsea?
Not for me, no. It would be an achievement to win silverware in a terrible season, but I worry it would validate the owners in their own head and sugarcoat an emergency as success. Of course I’d love to win it but it wouldn’t change what we’ve been watching for most of the season.
Who should be your manager next season?
I’d go for a big name. In an ideal world I'd want Antonio Conte back but I can’t see it happening. If we’re going for a manager more on the rise, I’d go all in on Cesc Fàbregas but I highly doubt he wants to leave Como. It seems pretty bang on for us to get Andoni Iraola at this point. He's not who I’d choose, but I'll get behind him if we do appoint him.
Songer’s new single, 'FIND MY FACE', is out now.
