Former Sunderland and Birmingham City boss Tony Mowbray could finalise a return to West Brom today, according to the Express & Star.
The Baggies have become a solid Championship side in recent seasons and have fought for a place in the top six consistently.
Carlos Corberan, the Baggies’ former manager, who left the club for Valencia very recently, received plaudits for that.
Currently, they are looking for the right man and have been in touch with multiple potential candidates.
Experienced Championship manager Mowbray’s name has emerged as a top contender for the role after the plan to appoint Raphael Wicky collapsed.
It was suggested on Wednesday that Mowbray and West Brom have not had official contract discussion talks but it was also claimed that things could gain momentum today.
And now there is ‘optimism’ that the Baggies and Mowbray could finalise his return today.
Mowbray’s long-term assistant Mark Venus is set to join too and the Baggies will be looking to have the 61-year-old in their dugout as soon as possible.
