Ortiz has cut his holiday short to return to Ninho do Urubu and complete rehabilitation, to be available to Leonardo Jardim. According to Globo.com, the centre-back will now follow a continuous programme until the squad’s official reporting date.

He had already agreed with the club to return for the final 10 days of the break. After the last Brasileirão round, he travelled to Paris with his wife and attended Roland Garros, including João Fonseca’s matches.

He is in the final phase of treatment and is virtually fully recovered from a right hamstring injury sustained in the win over Coritiba. The plan now is for daily sessions at the training ground under the supervision of club staff. Other players are also using the pause to strengthen physically.

Ortiz’s injury is considered minor and will not be an issue for Flamengo during the interseason. He is on Carlo Ancelotti’s 55-man preliminary Brazil list and remains on standby in case of injuries.

The defender has made 26 appearances this season, 23 as a starter, scoring once and providing one assist. He is part of Jardim’s first-choice pairing alongside Léo Pereira.

Flamengo expect the full group to be available from 19 June, except those on international duty. The squad will undergo tests at Ninho do Urubu before beginning preparation at the training centre.

On 28 June, the squad will fly to Portugal for an interseason camp featuring three friendlies, one against Benfica. The return to Brazil is scheduled for 12 July.
