Orri Óskarsson is finally emerging from the fitness problems that blighted his start to the season. As reported by AS, sustained training has put the striker back in Pellegrino Matarazzo’s plans.
He scored in the Copa against Alavés, then struck again in La Liga versus Elche on Saturday. Those successive strikes offer hope he could now leave his barren spell behind.
He joined Real last summer after 15 goals for Copenhagen the previous season, but the demands of La Liga and his fragility limited his rhythm in this first txuri-urdin campaign. At 21, and with a 20 million euros outlay, the club’s bet on him requires patience and care.
This season he has three goals, two in La Liga and one in the Copa. At Anoeta the crowd have adapted Bad Bunny’s Café y Ron, chanting, “Por la mañana café, por la tarde ron, llévame a Sevilla Orri Óskarsson”.
Reaching the Copa final at La Cartuja is a clear wish among Real’s fans, and the young forward could be important. Matarazzo joked that someone had told him about Orri and the rum, and that he might have to learn the song.
