On this day in 1996, Ole Gunnar Solskjær endeared himself to the Manchester United faithful for the very first time.
The forward, now 52, was signed by the Red Devils that summer from Norwegian side Molde.
He made his debut for the club a few weeks later, when Sir Alex Ferguson called upon him during a league game against Blackburn Rovers.
With United trailing 2-1, he made an instant impact by finding the back of the net to level the score and secure a hard-fought 2-2 draw.
It was the first of his 126 goals in a United shirt, with his killer instinct in front of goal also earning him the nickname ‘Baby-Faced Assassin’.
