Oulai reportedly targeted by fake Trabzonspor envoys as Fiorentina move edges closer | OneFootball

Fiorentina are close to a deal said to be worth €30m plus bonuses for Christ Inao Oulai, but, according to Football Italia, a bizarre airport episode briefly complicated matters in Istanbul.

The midfielder returned to the city today from the Ivory Coast after an extended break following his 2026 World Cup involvement.

A basic club-to-club agreement was understood to be in place, with Fiorentina still needing to settle personal terms.

On landing with his father, Oulai was met by people presenting themselves as Trabzonspor representatives, then taken to a car and told other teams were interested and he should review the contract on offer.

Trabzonspor’s actual officials could not locate him at first, struggled to make contact, then eventually reached Oulai by phone and brought him back.

It remains unclear who the impostors were or what they wanted. Fiorentina had reserved a flight to take Oulai to Italy today, but it was cancelled.
