Paris Saint-Germain wrapped up their first trophy of 2025 in Qatar on Sunday, beating AS Monaco (1-0) in the Trophée des Champions.
Ousmane Dembélé netted the winning goal late-on in that tightly-contested affair in Doha. “The tests will come. This win will give us a lot of confidence, it will push us,” said the Frenchman post-match.
It is indeed an important month of January for PSG. In Ligue 1, there are important games against AS Saint-Étienne, RC Lens and Stade de Reims, whilst they will also look to advance in the Coupe de France when they face Espaly in the Round of 32. However, of greater importance are the matches against Manchester City and VfB Stuttgart in the UEFA Champions League.
Currently, PSG are 25th in the League Pahse and on course for an early exit from the competition. On 22nd January, they will face a Manchester City side that are also struggling to progress in the competition. Pep Guardiola’s side are just one point ahead in 22nd place.
Dembélé has admitted that the squad’s focus is already on that game. “We all have our minds on Manchester City but before that, we have to win our matches,” the France international told reporters.
