Time is running out for Barcelona as they look to strengthen their ranks in the attacking unit.

The club’s interest in Marcus Rashford has been well documented, but as of now, the board lacks the funds to facilitate a transfer.

In the meantime, Bundesliga giants Borussia Dortmund are trying to move swiftly with the deal, having already proposed an offer that Manchester United like.

Ansu Fati does not want to leave

Barcelona, though, are virtually bound in the Rashford pursuit, as their forward Fati does not want to leave the club, reports Mundo Deportivo.

The La Masia graduate, out of favour under Hansi Flick, is the key that will help Barcelona make a move for Rashford. But as of now, he is resistant to the idea of leaving the club and embarking on a new adventure elsewhere.

This comes even after Flick informed the player that he is not a part of Barcelona’s plans anymore.

It must be noted that Fati has one of the most lucrative contracts at Barça right now. Choosing to leave, therefore, could make it difficult for him to find a similar contract elsewhere.

What can Barcelona do?

Unfortunately, there is not much Barcelona can do to sign Rashford if the club fail to convince Fati to leave the club.

The Spaniard has the contract and the salary package, which if rescinded, can generate enough bank to fund the Rashford move.

There are other players Barcelona are counting on for a sale, including Eric Garcia. But the defender’s salary is a fraction of what Fati earns.

Therefore, unless Barcelona can yield a significantly higher transfer fee for the former Man City centre-back, Rashford’s signing looks difficult to pull off this month.
