Own goal gives Sudan win over Equatorial Guinea | OneFootball

Sudan earned their first Africa Cup of Nations victory since 2012 to defeat Equatorial Guinea.

It was very much a smash-and-grab kind of result with Equatorial Guinea by far the better of the two teams in Casablanca with the better of the chances but unable to get on the scoresheet.

More accurately, Equatorial Guinea did get on the scoresheet but only through an own goal. A Sudan set-piece in the 74th minute was whipped into the box with Saúl Coco inadvertently heading past his own goalkeeper, Jesús Owono.

That was a particularly damaging result for Juan Michá's side as they now need something from Algeria next while Equatorial Guinea take on Burkina Faso in their final game of Group E.
