Palestinian goalkeeper Saleem Al-Ashqar dies in Gaza, reportedly killed by Israeli army | OneFootball

The Palestinian Football Association announced the death of goalkeeper Saleem Al-Ashqar in Gaza on Monday 29 June. The 32-year-old, who played for Khadamat Khan Younis, was reportedly killed by the Israeli army.

He was said to have been shot in Al-Qarara, north-east of Khan Younis.

Al-Ashqar had married five months ago and the couple were expecting their first child.

Chilean top-flight side CD Palestino, founded by Palestinian immigrants, posted a tribute on X.

The war has raged since the seven October 2023 Hamas attacks on Israel.
