Palestra ‘not to start’ for Italy against Luxembourg due to slight muscular issue | OneFootball

Sky Sport Italia and FCInterNews report that Marco Palestra will not start Italy’s friendly against Luxembourg tomorrow because of a slight muscular issue.

The squad is drawn largely from the Under-21s, leaving several players uncapped and keen to make their case from kick-off.

Palestra impressed this season on loan at Cagliari from Atalanta, and is at the centre of a €50m battle involving Inter, Manchester City, Newcastle United and Arsenal.

He could still appear from the bench, and there is hope he starts against Greece on Sunday evening instead.

The right-back had been among the most anticipated picks for the Luxembourg game, given his breakout campaign.
