Palhinha travels with Bayern Munich to Asia as Benfica interest persists | OneFootball

Palhinha has travelled with Bayern Munich for their pre-season tour in South Korea, despite being viewed as surplus to requirements and linked with Benfica. According to Glorioso 1904, the midfielder has been included in Vincent Kompany’s group for Asia.

The 31-year-old is among 26 players selected for the training camp in Jeju. His involvement keeps questions around his next move alive.

Despite boarding with the squad, he remains outside Kompany’s plans for the new season, so a departure from Bayern Munich is still possible. Even so, taking part in preparations could complicate attempts to sign him in the coming weeks.

Sacha Boey, another player considered expendable, is also on the trip. In contrast, Bryan Zaragoza stays in Germany on a specific physical recovery programme, as do Serge Gnabry, Jamal Musiala, Alphonso Davies and Lennart Karl.

Benfica continue to monitor Palhinha and regard him as a priority to strengthen midfield this summer. The club are looking to bring down Bayern Munich’s financial demands before making a definitive move.

Palhinha has two years left on his contract. The German champions are due to face Jeju United on Tuesday, while the midfielder’s future remains open.
