Raffaele Palladino said Ederson’s omission from Atalanta’s final-day draw with Fiorentina was agreed with the player, amid transfer activity that appears to point towards Manchester United.

According to Football Italia, United have stepped up their pursuit in recent days and Atalanta value the midfielder at around €50 million.

The coach made no attempt to hide his reasoning in his post-match press conference, explaining the decision was linked to developments on the market and adding that attention from a major club should be seen as a source of pride.

The club in question is understood to be Manchester United. Contacts between the sides are expected as both look to move the situation forward.

Atletico Madrid had been considered serious rivals for the Brazilian, but they now appear to have shifted focus, leaving United with a largely clear run. For Atalanta, losing Ederson would be a significant blow heading into next season, and Palladino’s public acknowledgement suggests a deal could be edging closer.
