Palmeiras extend Sorriso to 2028 as Baniyas switch stalls | OneFootball

Palmeiras have extended Under-20 forward Sorriso’s contract until the end of 2028 after negotiations over a move to FC Baniyas, of the United Arab Emirates, stalled late on.

According to Nosso Palestra, his previous deal ran to July 2027 and he reported for first-team duty on Monday to be assessed by Abel Ferreira’s staff.

He is not expected to remain with the senior squad and may be moved on. With major transfer windows closed, Palmeiras and the player’s representatives are working on proposals from Brazilian clubs, and there is an expectation that a decision on his departure will come by the end of the week.

Sorriso, a standout in the 2024 Copa São Paulo de Futebol Júnior, joined Palmeiras after impressing in the tournament for Atlético Guaratinguerá.

He adapted quickly, making 44 appearances in 2024 and 45 in 2025. He scored 10 goals in 2024 and 11 in 2025, his most prolific year.
