According to Nosso Palestra, Adidas and Palmeiras have discussed a possible reunion, but significant internal resistance has emerged within the club.

The partnership ended in 2018, and Adidas was close to an agreement in 2024 before Puma put forward the best proposal. The pushback is linked to Adidas’s relationship with Flamengo.

Some councillors and directors believe that, even with Adidas keen on having a team in São Paulo, Palmeiras would not be the brand’s priority, with Flamengo retaining superior terms. They fear Palmeiras would be second choice and that any deal now could let Flamengo renegotiate and further widen its kit-supply revenue lead.

Any return is viewed as a future possibility, with Palmeiras contracted to Puma until December 2028. Progress would require negotiating an early termination with two and a half years remaining, seen as difficult given president Leila Pereira’s stance against breaking active agreements.

As a result, an Adidas comeback is considered feasible from 2028, when the club will have a new president. Palmeiras stresses satisfaction with Puma, denies holding talks with other suppliers, and says the partnership, begun in 2019, has delivered strong results on and off the pitch.

The club and Puma continue to work in step on new projects and products, with next season’s home and away kits already approved and in production.
