Palmeiras completed their preparations on the morning of this Friday (16th), at the Football Academy, to face Mirassol this Saturday (17th), at Arena Crefisa Barueri, for the third round of the Paulista Championship. So far, the Verdão has won the first two matches of the competition, against Portuguesa and Santos, both by 1-0.

In Friday's training, left-back Jefté worked full-time, while midfielders Felipe Anderson, Lucas Evangelista, and Figueiredo did physical transition on the field. Forwards Facundo Torres and Paulinho and midfielder Andreas Pereira followed the Health and Performance Center's schedule inside the excellence center. Marlon Freitas, Ramón Sosa, and Maurício, who were out of the classic against Santos, are expected to be among those listed.

Starting for the first time in the professional team against Santos, forward Riquelme Fillipi highlighted his adaptation to the squad and the importance of the victory.

First of all, I thank God for everything that has been happening in my life. What I am experiencing here is all a result of a lot of work and dedication. Being here with the professionals is a turning point, it's something new and I am very happy. Everyone here gives a lot of support to us who come from the youth academy, everyone strengthens and welcomes us greatly.

Riquelme also spoke about his debut as a starter.

About the last game, I was very happy, it was my first match as a starter and I was a little anxious during the day, I wanted it to come quickly. Thank God, it was a very important victory in the first classic of the year and we are 100% in the Paulista. It was something very special for me.

The young athlete, at the club since 2021, praised the tradition of promoting youth players.

We know the strength we have in the youth academy, we have seen it in recent years, like Endrick, Estevão, Luis Guilherme, and now Luighi, Allan, besides us who have recently moved up: me, Belé, Luis Pacheco, and Larson. We know the importance of being here. So, whenever we are on the field, we try to represent as much as possible so that others can also have opportunities in the future. Now it's about continuing, we are very focused so that everything can go right for us throughout the year.

Besides the offensive side, Riquelme emphasized the effort to improve defensively.

In the youth academy, we did this a lot, the wingers, to play here at Palmeiras, have to have the stamina to attack and come back, because that's what professional football demands and that's what coach Abel demands. So, I was already a bit used to it and held up well against Santos. I think I played well offensively and defensively and was able to help my team.

Finally, the forward commented on the match against Mirassol.

We know Mirassol's football. We are going to win because that is the spirit of Palmeiras. We are working day by day for this. We are very focused. About Barueri, which is now becoming our home, I played a lot there last year. It's a top-notch field, in the last game, even with the rain, nothing changed on the field. Now it's time for us to establish ourselves even more and hopefully, we can play a great game and come out victorious.
