According to Globo.com, Palmeiras will build a new youth training centre and has launched a tender to choose a city in the São Paulo metropolitan area, replacing Academia de Futebol 2. The project is expected to cost more than R$ 100 million.

Municipal authorities have been approached and signalled interest in joining the bid, a process in which prospective providers compete with price or service proposals.

The club aims to deliver the leading academy facility in Latin America, including accommodation for youngsters recruited from beyond Greater São Paulo, so a large, well located site is required.

Academy players currently live in a partner hotel near Academia de Futebol 1.

In 2024, Palmeiras introduced upgrades across the academy and in its medical, physiotherapy and nutrition departments.

A first-instance court ruling last year, brought by the Public Prosecutor's Office, ordered the demolition of Academia de Futebol 2 over alleged failures to meet obligations tied to the 1998 land grant at Parque Ecológico do Tietê.

The club can still overturn the decision on appeal, but the choice to vacate the site has already been made and does not depend on the lawsuit.

The move is also linked to limits imposed by the Guarulhos concession, including the inability to build a hotel, and the current location cannot support the modern expansion planned.

The current training base covers 45,000 sq m and has five pitches, including one synthetic surface and a dirt field used weekly by under-10 to under-14 teams.
