Palmeiras pursue first-choice signings as season nears, with only Marlon Freitas in | OneFootball

According to Globo.com, Palmeiras approach their 2026 Brasileirão opener with only Marlon Freitas added, despite four departures, and are still pushing for first-choice reinforcements.

Abel Ferreira said he needs a competitive team and that Anderson Barros and Leila Pereira are working to secure first options. He said targets are defined and signings depend on the club, after the 3-1 win over São Paulo.

Palmeiras sold Aníbal Moreno to River Plate, loaned Micael to Inter Miami and released Weverton to join Grêmio, while Facundo Torres moved to Austin FC. Raphael Veiga is on América of Mexico’s radar without an offer, his future uncertain.

“We are creating room to bring others in, but the profiles are very specific and we must be careful. These are not simple moves,” Barros told TNT before the derby.

Palmeiras have opened talks with Thiago Almada and Jhon Arias for the attack, seen as difficult deals with no advances. Almada said this week he will remain at Atlético de Madrid, speaking to Afa Estudio.

The window runs until 3 March, and Palmeiras now also begin their league campaign on Wednesday against Atlético-MG.
