Gustavo Gómez and Maurício scored, yet Palmeiras fell to a comeback defeat against Fluminense at Maracanã.

According to Globo.com, Giay, Murilo and Vitor Roque received the lowest marks in a disjointed team display.

Gómez opened the scoring with a firm header from a Joaquín Piquerez cross and was the calmest figure in defence. Booked, Piquerez was withdrawn at half-time and the left flank remained vulnerable.

Fluminense levelled from a counter after Vitor Roque lost possession, and further defensive lapses told. Giay failed to track Kevin Serna for the second, while goalkeeper Carlos Miguel looked uneasy and could not keep out a Hulk header.

Murilo struggled in both concessions. Arthur did not steady the side after replacing Piquerez, and Andreas Pereira and Marlon Freitas were unable to set the tempo. Allan forced a smart early save from Fábio but faded.

Abel Ferreira abandoned a back three, his changes had some impact but not enough, and his side were punished late. Ramón Sosa missed two chances then went off in pain, leaving him a doubt for the Libertadores. Felipe Anderson arrived too late to influence matters, Arias was subdued amid home jeers, and Emiliano Martínez never found the game’s rhythm.
