Palmeiras should return to Allianz Parque in late February as pitch renovation progresses | OneFootball

According to Globo.com, the Allianz Parque pitch overhaul is in phase four of six after starting in early December. The work is slated to be completed by the end of February, in line with Soccer Grass’s schedule.

The current stage involves levelling the gravel layer and compacting the soil, with drainage also being reinforced.

The closing phases will include opening the shock pad rolls, laying the turf, spreading sand and marking the pitch.

Around 70 tonnes of turf and shock pad, the impact-absorbing layer, arrived in Brazil in early January.

The new surface uses the same system as before but with an upgrade. Each tuft comprises three fibre types, one of which differs from the previous model.

Until the work is finished, Palmeiras will continue to host matches at Arena Barueri. They should return to Allianz Parque once the renovation is completed. The next game there is on Saturday at 18:30 against São Paulo.
