The World Cup begins on Thursday 11 in the United States, Canada and Mexico. Palmeiras have seven players called up, Gustavo Gómez, Ramón Sosa, Mauricio, Piquerez, Emiliano Martínez, Arias and Flaco López.
According to Nosso Palestra, the club have not yet finalised post tournament plans and will handle each return on an individual basis.
Reviews will weigh the number of World Cup matches, physical load and even the prospect of a title and celebrations, with input from the coaching staff and the health and performance department.
If a player wins the tournament, Palmeiras consider it unfair to demand an immediate return and deny national celebrations with team-mates and supporters.
Even so, they want the full squad back quickly, with decisive Copa do Brasil last 16 ties in early August.
Right-back Agustín Giay awaits a possible call-up, having featured in two Argentina warm-ups, and could be selected by Lionel Scaloni after defender Balerdi was cut.
Players not called up are due to return to training on 21 June. Vitor Roque, recovering from ankle surgery, continues treatment at the Academia de Futebol and has forgone holidays to speed his comeback.
